About the breed

Herdwick sheep are hardy beings, one of the most rugged of the British sheep breeds. When the lambs are born, their coat is at its darkest -- the fleece actually lightens in colour as the sheep ages, and their coats start sprouting coarser, whiter hairs with time. (We can relate.)

They are mostly raised in the Lake District in England.
